You will have a minimum of 2 years (5 years for Senior) relevant experience in the Formular 1 environment.
A Degree/Masters or other qualifications in Mechanical Engineering will be beneficial.
A Practical and proactive nature regarding a multitude of projects is a requirement, as you will form part of a project based environment.
The successful applicant will be proficient in CATIA V5, and have knowledge of engineering software including ANSYS and MATLAB, also experience in Microsoft Excel is essential.

We have positions available for experienced model designers in both surfacing and mechanical fields. Roles for Senior Model Designers and Model Designers are available, according to experience and skill level.

Working in, or leading, one of our model design groups, you will be responsible for the design and development of a wide range of aerodynamic projects and components related to wind tunnel and CFD testing. You will work with the aerodynamicists and CFD engineers to provide them with the aerodynamic geometries that they wish to test, and to constantly improve the quality, accuracy and modularity of the wind tunnel model.

The Senior Model Designer will have a proven track record in F1 wind tunnel model design, be proficient in solving mechanical and packaging problems on a wind tunnel model, and experienced in liaising with full-scale designers to define designs which are compatible with the car package.

They will feel comfortable leading and managing the model design activities, priorities and resources within a model design group.

Requirements:
• Good academic background in mechanical, automotive, aeronautic or similar engineering discipline.
• All candidates should demonstrate strong skills and good experience in 3D mechanical design and surfacing, preferably Catia V5.
• Engineering drawing to BS308/8888 standards is essential.
